Imaginary Landscapes, documentation of a slide installation, 2014

This is a documentation of a slide installation shown in the solo-exhibition "Hard Rain" in the Simultanhalle in Köln, Germany from
the 3rd of May to the 25th of May, 2014. The images were all made during a research excursion in the western part of the US with
the Pavillon, the artist's residency of the Palais de Tokyo in the spring of 2013. The slides were shot on 35mm film and later edited
with a 35mm editing machine. These editing machine are used to create the artificial landscapes of the cinema, many of which are
based on and around the south-west region of the United States. In some of the images, the editing machine is revealed. Since this
machine can only make straight cuts, these "slide collages" contain a single cut across the horizon, resulting in portrait-oriented
landscapes that present skies and grounds that only truly exist in our imagination.

Galerie Crone - Photuris - Solo Show -
Dec 14th, 2013 - Feb 14th, 2014

Photuris, solo show, Galerie Crone, Dec 13th, 2013 - Feb 14th, 2014 (gallery views and selected work details below)

This grouping contains a large series of photographs created by directly exposing fireflies to various light sesitive materials.
Because the photographs are not created with a lens, the resulting images come closer to what fireflies actually are and perhaps
even how they experience themselves. The series include two enlargements from color negatives. The remaining 26 works
were produced on either the smaller, peel-apart Fuji Instant film or the larger, 20x24" Polaroid film. In these unique images the
traces left on the film are not reproductions, but are the actual light-signatures emitted by the fireflies. These images are a
cross between self-portraits, automatic drawings and luminograms.

The grouping also incudes a 16mm film, a video and a sculpture made of glass. These non-photographic works spring from the
experience of searching for a light that is difficult to find and occasionally finding something else or nothing at all.

AURA / Polaroid Performance
at Le Bal, Paris

Wednesday July 10, 8PM
LE BAL / Photo Gallery

Peter Miller is an American artist who currently lives and works in Paris, where he is in residence at Le Pavillon, Palais de Tokyo.
His film and photographic works are preoccupied with magic and generally investigate the phenomena of the cinema and its
constituent, irreducible elements: lens, light, flicker, audience, projection, etc. He has been a Fulbright Fellow to Austria and
a DAAD Scholar in Germany. In recent years he has shown films at the London, Toronto and Rotterdam International Film
Festivals and has shown work with Galerie Crone in Berlin, Volker Bradke in Düsseldorf and the Bundeskunsthalle in Bonn.
Peter Miller will present at Le BAL a “Polaroid Performance” dealing with the issue of the aura and photography.
Just like the human beings, Polaroids remain unique, impossible to be reproduced.

Glasmoog - zu Gast im BBK
,,Escapist Adventures"

Documentation photo of a performance by a divorce lawyer and locksmith, hired to sit on the Hohenzollern bridge in Cologne
on January 12th, 2013 for 2 hours. The following advertisement ran in a local paper, notifying the public that if theirs was one
of the 160,000 Lovelocks locked to the bridge (and whose key was at the bottom of the Rhein) and they wished to have it removed,
the divorce lawyer would be there to verify the ownership and the locksmith would cut it off for free.

Advertisement that ran in the newspaper Express, Köln, announcing that a divorce lawyer and locksmith would be available
a month later for couples who were interested in having their Lovelocks removed from the Hohenzollern bridge.
