Photuris, solo show, Galerie Crone, Dec 13th, 2013 - Feb 15th, 2014 (gallery views above, works below)
This grouping contains a large series of photographs created by directly exposing fireflies to various light sesitive materials.
Because the photographs are not created with a lens, the resulting images come closer to what fireflies actually are and perhaps
even how they experience themselves.
The series include two enlargements from color negatives. The remaining 26 works
were produced on either the smaller, peel-apart Fuji Instant film or the larger, 20x24" Polaroid film. In these unique images the
traces left on the film are not reproductions, but are the actual light-signatures emitted by the fireflies. These images are a
cross between self-portraits, automatic drawings and luminograms.
The grouping also incudes a 16mm film, a video and a sculpture made of glass. These non-photographic works spring from the
experience of searching for a light that is difficult to find and occasionally finding something else or nothing at all.
