Kamera für Röntgen, antique camera encased in lead, 60cm x 66cm x 167cm, 2015 This is a camera for Wilhelm Röntgen, discoverer of X-rays. X-rays cannot pass through lead and so lead has often been used to protect, among other things, film from the effects of X-rays. Though this camera would be "safe" it can no longer see. Furthermore, we do not know for sure if there is a camera beneath this skin, in trying to imagine that there is, the viewer employs a kind of "X-ray vision".
